Material Scouting
Material exploration is an essential part of Baolab’s everyday design practice. Through continuous material scouting we actively search for new, innovative and sustainable materials that can enrich our projects and inspire future concepts.
Our team constantly monitors developments in bio-based materials, recycled composites, advanced textiles, surface treatments and new technologies. We establish collaborations that allow us to stay ahead of industry innovation and access the most promising material solutions.
This ongoing activity feeds directly into our material library, a curated and ever-evolving archive of samples, swatches, and prototypes that we use to support CMF design strategies, client presentations and workshops. It also serves as a creative tool for co-design sessions, moodboard development, and material storytelling.
Our scouting process combines design intuition with technical curiosity, ensuring that every material we investigate is evaluated not only for its aesthetic qualities but also for its performance, sustainability and potential for industrial application.
